Community
I use language and games to represent cultural structures within the international community. I also examine trends in my local community through the collection and recontextualisation of cultural commodities.
Architecture
Architecture enables me to observe the social implications of geometry and the grid in the physical world. By depicting specific sites from my environment, I am able to comment on aspects of social interaction.
Abstraction
This work initially followed the modernist logic that painting can reach an objective state by reducing its medium to its essential elements. The work currently focuses on the subversion of the grid’s mechanical purity through the imperfections of my hand.
Design
As my artistic practice addresses social and cultural themes more directly, my interest in design as a 'public' medium has increased. I have recently participated in several design projects that have allowed me to deal with content in a creative and collaborative way.
